There is nothing quite like Mykonos. The sea as blue as it can possibly be, the white sugar cube houses, the rugged beaches, the fabled Aegean sunsets. Ancient history and mythology abounds here, around the mysterious ruins of Delos, just a short boat hop from Mykonos Town. No wonder that a few jet setters like Jacqueline Kennedy/Onassis and Grace Kelly first found this place irresistible in the 1960s. Since then many other celebrities have come and left their mark, but Mykonos has definitely not lost its appeal. Starting in the 1970s, with the opening of Pierro’s Bar, the island has welcomed the LGBT community with open arms and still today it’s a huge magnet for gay tourists from around the world, who find an open and accepting Mediterranean paradise.
